We could choose beetween black, red, or camo. Some of us saw our parents there and we waved to them. My dad met lilli's mom and after that we got a cookie and a cup of water.we also saw the dogs. officer chance was right, after you hear the dare song it really is stuck in your head.it was one of the best days of my life. it was really fun when we got to shake everyones hand and high five darin the lion.

The drunk goggles

I am writing this because i wanted to share about when we all put on 'drunk goggles.'You should read this because it was funny because we could not walk a straight line. The lesson was to try to walk a straight line in the 'drunk goggles.'The activity was to have fun while trying to walk straight,it was hard. I thought it was really fun because some of us fell and walked complitly off the line, and some did good.If you tried this with a bunch of friends you would have a good and fun time doing it.I would try to do a wavey line and try to get i it right.

drinking is a bad thing if you drink alot, if you drink one every once in a while that would be better to do. If you drink under age it is bad because your body is growing at the time. You should only drink if you're 21 or older.Drinking and driving is bad because you can kill or injure you or someone else, it can turn into a disaster.

LEADERSHIP NOTEBOOKS!!!

On November 4,2014 we were working on our leadership noteooks. A leadership notebook tracks all of the work we do all year long. In our leadership notebooks we were writing out our academic and our personal wig planners. In our academic wig planners we wrote down what we wanted to get better at in school. Then our personal wig planners is for what we want to get better at outside of school like a sport you like to play. In those goals we would set a date when we want to accomplish that goal. For example say you wanted to get better at math you would say I want to get better at math by March. We also made a calender when we practiced what we wanted to get better at. For example i wanted to get better at basketball so I made a calender so every day I practiced basketball I would put a check mark on that day I practiced. In conclusion we all learned how to set goals so we can make our dreams come true.

Abi the great teacher!

Today our class was learning about how to generate narrative ideas in writing. The teacher had to go talk to another teacher's substitute,so she had to pick a student to finish what we were learning about. The student she picked was me,Abi. While the teacher was helping the sub I got to teach the class on how to list proper ideas for a narrative. While I was writing people were asking questions about what I was writing. I said "stuff that has happened in my lifetime." When the teacher returned they were asking me more questions. Then, the teacher said, "see what narratives will do. That's what good narratives will do, make you want to learn more."She replied. The lesson we learned today was unforgettable. And I found out how fun it is to be a teacher.

We made the video as a class and then our class videographer, Dominic, uploaded it and put it on YouTube for us to share to you. It is unlisted, so it can only be seen by people with a link.

Today's Lesson on Choices and Actions

Today we spent a great deal of time talking about how we want to be remembered, and how we want others to think of us.

As the school year goes on we have all gotten more comfortable. And by fifth grade most of these kids have been together a long time. As the year has gone on I have started to see more and more cattiness and little spats arising.  I wanted to spend some time helping the students to take a look at their actions and the way those actions change the way others see us.

When the students arrived to school this morning they were all given random name tags. The name tags showed words that most people would NOT like used to describe them. (Words like cheater, drama, bad sport, self centered, bragger, know it all... Etc.) I asked the students to wear them throughout the day, and to record how it felt to wear those words.

I did my best to make sure students were all aware that these were not names we were calling them, or accusing them of being, but just a part of an experiment.

The students said that wearing the negative words made them feel things like: ashamed, embarrased, sad, angry, upset, shy, and "like people thought I was a bad person".

We then talked about how we "wear words" that describe us everyday, even though we cannot see them, our choices and our actions show our words to other people.

I asked each of the students to really think about the way others may think of them. I asked them if there were any words that they felt may describe them, that they were not happy with. We wrote those words on hearts. (Mine is shown below.)

After that we sat down and thought about what choices and actions we have done to make those words show on us. The students really thought hard about what things they have done and what choices they have made that they felt painted them in a negative way.

I could see a lot of "light bulbs" going off as the students began to realize what their actions are showing others.

After this, we destroyed those negative hearts and began to write the words that we WOULD like to represent us instead. Each of us made a list of actions and choices we can start doing to  help us become the type of people we want to be.

This set the stage for us to begin writing new goals for ourselves. With our new goals we can Proactively work to become better people and make better choices.

In the end, we switched out each negative word on the board for a postive one and said what we could do to show those positive words.

At first the students stood up one by one and pointed out a single word that meant something to them. They said what they were going to do so that they do not end up being described with that word, then went to the board and replaced that word with a positive one.

One by one all of the students all came together and took turns sharing and changing the words on the board that hit home to them and they wanted to change.

In the end, the students took off their negative words and made their own name tags with more personal positive words that they would like to represent them.

HELPFUL

BRAVE

INTELLEGENT

HONEST

SMART

GOOD PLAYER

GRATEFUL

After spending the second half of the day wearing postivie words we found that people treated us better when we wore them. We discovered that whether we are wearing our words or not, we carry them with us. If we are good people and make good choices people will treat us nicely and with respect. We also found, if put bad things into the world, that we get them back.
I am very proud of the goals the kids set for themselves today and how open they were to really thinking about themselves and making plans to become even better!

I certainly do love these children. Thank you so much for trusting me with your most prized possessions.

BRYNN, AUTUMN, PAIGE, BROOKE, ANNA, DAVID, AND LOUIS ARE $10 RICHER! (And Mrs. Sims is poorer!)

These are the winners for the pencil keeping contest, And the names of the winners are Brynn Crall, Autumn McCartney, Paige Mcpheron, Brooke Florida, Anna Romo, David Peterson and Louis Derringer. Mrs. Sims kept her word and gave $10 to each person who won. She did admit she didn't think this many of us would win! They all won $10 for keeping there pencil with theme for a while. Good job winners!!!

We have started another pencil keeping contest and for this one the winner get a $5 gift card to Sonic and also get a route 44 sonic drink that the student gets to drink all day.
This is the chart that we keep the pencil keeping contest on and if you are absent, lose your pencil or not bring it with you to the line then you are out of the competition.

Our behavior strips

Coming back from break Mrs. Sims has decided to get rid of the tallie system and begin with something new. She has put in class behavior strips with pouches on the " Cabient Of Wonder".        On the other side of the cabinet there are 5 different color pouches for what you are signing for. Instead of marking for every time you don't follow directions, you will put a colored strip in your pouch for every time you do one of these following things.

The 1st pouch is Considerate. Consideration is being considerate of another's feelings. For example, if someone asked you if they could sit by you at lunch you shouldn't say ," No I don't want you to sit by me". You could simply say," no", very politely. If you are not being considerate you will put a colored strip in your pouch.Another pouch is the  Respectful pouch. Being respectful is like not talking to someone while someone else is speaking . Then of you are being disrespectful you will put a strip in. The 3rd pouch is Responsible. Responsible means to be in charge of what is yours. For example, you have to keep track of your planner. Another pouch Is the Following Directions pouch. I think we all know what following directions are. And if you don't you will put a strip in your pouch. Finally there Is the body basics pouch. This means to keep your hands and legs to yourself  and not to touch other things. If you are not showing body basics you will put a strip in your pouch. At the end of every day, we will count how many of each strip we got and keep track of that. In the end ( the end of the week) if you don't have that many strips we will have a super citizen party. Just a few minutes to do whatever you want. I think that this will be a great expirence for us and will be a lot of fun.
