Hot Wheels

Alasha, and conner testing the car.

alison measuring how far the car went.

Today we did an amazing/fun "lab"to teach us about force, motion, Gravity, and friction. It was pretty cool. I think this is cool because we learned about it and got to have fun.

holly, addi, and danni hiring the ramp.

cydnee, and averee's car fell of

  •     first we taped 2 yard sticks together.
  •     then we piled our books and put a yard on them like a ramp.
  •     next we put the car on the ramp.
  •     after we watched the car roll down the ramp. It took 3 times per book.
  •     we measured how far the car went of the ramp in centameters.

Spencer and Kelsey with their Red car.

After that we got our average we did _ +_+_/ 3=_. It showed us a car will move down a ramp if you give it force. Then gravity will make it go down to the floor. After that friction will make it stop because the wheels are rubbing against the carpet.

This was a fun way Mrs. Sims let us learn about force, motion, gravity, and friction we learned a whole lot! (;

Fingerprint Science

Fingerprint Science!

Today in class we were working on lifting our fingerprints
The materials we used were 2 post it notes a pencil and a
piece of clear tape. We had so much fun. The first thing
you do is take your pencil make a big bloch of lead on the
post it note. Then you rub your finger print all over the post it
note. Now you should have a shiny metallic finger. Next you
take a clear piece of tape put your fingerprint on the tape.
Now take off the tape from your finger then you have to put
the tape on the clean post it note. Enjoy!

Seed sorting

Today we did a seed sorting lab in Science. We first learned about Taxonomy and classification. Taxonomy is what scientists to do sort things into groups. We used classification to sort our beans, some were kidney beans, lima beans, pinto beans, garbonzo beans, and peas. We used this chart to find out wich beans were wich by finding the texture and the color and the shape.

How does pressure affect an object? LAB

How does pressure effect an object??

On Thursday, Our class did a experiment to find out how pressure
Effects a object. For this experiment we needed a clear plastic jar,
Clay, plastic mirror, straw, marshmallow, and a sharpie. We put the
Straw in the jar then drew 3 circles on the marshmallow and
dropped it in the jar.We put clay over the top of the jar.
Then we sucked in the jar the marshmallow
got smaller, we sucked out of the jar the marshmallow got
bigger. It was a messy day here in Mrs.Sims class
Thursday.
Jayden.Y and Jayden.J,warming there clay up getting ready
to put the clay on the jar.

Sierra and Jacob putting there clay on top of the jar.

Anna covering the holes to make sure none of the holes are
letting air out.

Trent and Joe fixing the clay so that there are no holes.

Water Pressure Experiment

Yesterday our class experimented on how the water pressure changes the deeper you go into the ocean.

We poked there holes in our milk jugs and covered the holes with tape. Once we took the tape off the milk jugs we found that water will flow farthest from the hole at the bottom.

Water pressure increases as water depth increases.

We also made a huge mess while doing it but it was fun!
