CHOIR CONCERT

Christmas Concert
The fifth grade concert was a pretty big event. The audience was huge comparing to where I was standing. Almost everybody in my class was there. Every fifth grader was reguired to wear green or red to be festive. There were like 8 songs performed. First honor quior sang the Star Spangled Banner. Next they sang songs that they practiced. Then the fifth graders got on the stage and Mrs. Burd and Mrs.Terry's class sang first. After them, it was Mrs. Sims and Liddle's class turn. Finally we ended the concert by singing one song together which was called Belive from The Polar Express. :]-Aneysha.

Simple Machines

                  The Wonders Of Simple Machines!
So we had fun doing these stations to see what simple machines can realy do. As you can see we had these simple machines lever, screw, gears, pully, wedge, wheel and axle, incline plane.
We spent two days working in these stations. Personlly my favorite was the screw because we had screws and little screw drivers. Any way it was alot of fun!

Colonies

Before Christmas break we worked on three important colonies. These three colonies were the middle colonies, the England colonies, and the southern colonies. Each student got to decide which colonies they wanted to do. The first day of our projects the southern colonies watched a video on their place of living and how it was ran. The other colonies took notes on their colonies until they got to watch their video. Our goal was to make a brochure on our colony for the settelers to see.(the settelers are not real it is just a fun project.) We had two weeks to finish our brochures. We all got to pick a partner to work with that was in our same colony. We finished our reports on time and had a lot if fun making it with our friends.

Celery Cells

Hi my name is Jaedha and I'm going to talk about the day that we did a celery project! We enjoyed learning more about celery aperently celery has veins and so the class and I put dye in water and left it there for a couple of days and later after it turned a little bit blue we opened it up and looked at the veins it was so cool. The veins were blue so we could see them 😀. That project was amazing I think I'm going to try it at home too! -Jaedha 😝

Secret Santa Book Exchange

We are doing a secret santa! Every "santa" has to give a book away that they have already read and in good condition to there person. It can be any book. "Santa" can not say who they are. That's what makes it fun! The secret santa gives their person clues of who they are. In this case, a simile is using like and as to describe yourself. An alliteration is to describe yourself using the same leter at the begining of a word throughout the sentence. To decribe yourself with a hyperbole, exaggeration something about you. Remember not to put your name on it!-Aneysha

Describe yourself using a simile.
Describe yourself using alliteration.
Describe yourself using hyperbole.
Choose an interesting way to describe yourself.

The Plant Quest

The Plant Quest
I am writing this to tell you what we did in science.  This post is to tell you more about our scavenger hunt
The lesson is to teach us about the characteristics of plants to tell us what groups and kinds of plants we learned diffent facts about plants like:
What is the largest type of seed in the world..........coconuts
What is the largest type of plant in the world that does not have a wooden stem..........a banana tree
That is what we learned in science about plants
Here is aneysha doing the one on the book shelf

Food Chains and Webs

Jonah is making a food chain.
I'm writing this today because I wanted to tell you about science. You should read the because it was fun and you can get them to play it on the computer.Today at science we went to the computer lab and played some games about food chains and food webs. There was like 2 games where you put animals in a food chain.there was like 5 games of the food chains and food webs. The food web games was like the food chain games. The lesson was to learn more about food chains and food webs. The link was http://tinyurl.com/sniabar .

Here are some girls in the lab.
What we learned from doing this is about the food chains and webs. What it was when we made food chains and we made some food webs on the computer.I think we all learned maybe a little about them today.
The boys here are making food webs and chains
Food Chains are:Always starts with a producer

Science city visit

Science city visit!
Today we had a guy named trevor come from science city to show us some demonstrations of physics! First he did that trick from Ghostbusters where you yank a tablecloth out from underneath a plate. Then he used potential and kinetic energy to use a big ball to propel a tennis ball far up into the air. As seen in the picture above he dropped a bowling ball onto a trampoline to bounce it into the air. And for the final trick he used cintrifugal force to keep a teddy bear onto a Greek waiters food holder. Then he did the same trick with a glass of water, well, let's just say that didn't end so well. Well, it was an awesome time and we had a lot of fun learning about force and motion!

A "hot" experiment

A "hot" experiment

Today we did an experiment using hot wheel cars and two taped meter sticks, it was pretty fun just playing with cars during science!

The first day we talked about friction, which is the force that makes things stop when they go on a different surface which makes the two rub together and slow down. We also talked about Gravity, the force that holds us down on the earth. Then we taped the meter sticks and made a hypothesis about if the number of books would effect how far the car rolls.

The second day we did the experiment by stacking books to put the meter stick on and rolling the car down the sticks.

And after we did all that we calculated the averages and made a bar graph showing our averages. So we had an awesome time doing and learning about force and motion in this fun way.

Our fun APP!

In math we used a Virtual Reality App called Aurasma. It lets you hide objects in our "virtual world". So with our normal eyes we only see a computer, with Aurasma, we see a math problem.

In real life there is not a flying car, but in the virtual world of Aurasma there is.
In the app we did a scavenger hunt where every time we found a clue like the picture above, it would show a math equation or a funny video. We used it to go over our study guide for division.
In this activity we would go into groups of three carrying  the iPad for one group, the teacher's phone, and my phone since I had the app.
What the app does is you can make you own a aura. All you have to do is pick a design to go inside your aura. Then, you find a place around the room you want to put it in and post!
Our class agreed to do it again because we had so much fun the first time. It taught us a lot about how to work together. The funny thing is that we all couldn't find one of them which was the teacher! In conclusion, we had a learning experience while still getting to have some fun.

BIST PARENT NIGHT

Working At B.I.S.T Night

This is what B.I.S.T night was like for me. I really liked working there. When my little sister and I walked into the school, we sat down on a bench and waited to be assigned jobs. I was assigned on greeting the parents. Two other "employees " worked with me. One handed a B.I.S.T packet, another an agenda, and I spoke to whoever came. After our "shift" was done, all of the employees ate pizza outside of the library. The children that came to B.I.S.T night were in the library having fun while the parents stayed in the cafeteria listening about what the safe spot is, stuff like that. After the pizza, we could go to the library. Inside, there was a movie playing, kids playing with action figures, and coloring at the tables. I watched the movie. I didn't get to finish because my mom was here to pick us up. That is what I did at B.I.S.T parent night. : )

A Reminder
__________
If you have been in war or gruesome battles I recommend not reading this.

I’m writing to tell you about Veterans Day. You should read this it could tell you a lot.

This is about Veterans Day. A veteran  is a person who served in the military or still does. On veterans day we thank the people who served our country to save ours and other lives.

What we did in Mrs. Terry and one of the students dads came in to teach us a lesson about veterans day. He showed us pictures his jobs and the military dogs he had.

Well if you want to know more look it up or ask a parent or friend.
